Getting to Know Dr. Forker!

Dr. Grace Forker is the newest doctor at Newberry Animal Hospital's Newberry location, and already she has made an impact in the lives of all of her pet patients. From client education on nutrition and wellness to saving lives in emergency situations, Dr. Forker has proven she can truly do it all. Marketing Manager Olivia was so excited to sit down with Dr. Forker recently to chat about how she got where she is today and the impact she hopes to leave on the veterinary industry:

Olivia: Dr. Forker, you have a clear passion for education and advocacy for your pet patients. What is your earliest memory of a pet in your life?

Dr. Forker: When I was in 4th grade we adopted my first puppy ever, Max. He was a Border Terrier/Cocker Spaniel mix, so he was cute and scruffy but had the prettiest spaniel ears. He ended up passing away at only 8 months old after being hit by a car outside of our house. While it was a very sad to lose him, he also taught me at a very early age the importance of keeping your pets safe, especially if they're outside exploring alone.

O: Is there something about you that most people do not know, but would be surprised to hear?

GF: I love cooking and baking! And eating of course - I'm a very adventurous eater and will try (almost) anything once.

O: If you could go back and have five minutes with your ‘younger self’, how would you use that time, or what would you say?

GF: I would say that I've seen it myself that things always get better, and to remember to find happiness in anything that I do.

O: How do you want the world to be different because YOU lived in it?

GF: I want to be part of a world that celebrates open mindedness, inclusion, and to embrace change as a necessity of progress and understanding each other.

O: When you find yourself with a sudden amount of free time unexpectedly, how do you spend it?

GF: With my boyfriend and our animals! We love to be outdoors and travel, but also really love to take that time to decompress on the couch.

O: Thank you for your interview! We always end it with a favorite quote. What is yours?

GF: “Whatever you choose to do, leave tracks. That means don’t do it just for yourself. You will want to leave the world a little better for your having lived.” —Ruth Bader Ginsburg
