A Journey into Veterinary Medicine

My name is Kaitlin, and I’m NAH’s Marketing Manager. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Stone for a DVM interview to learn more about the experiences, passions, and moments that shaped her journey in veterinary medicine.

Rewarding Part of Your Job

Kaitlin: Dr. Stone, what is the most rewarding part of your job?

Dr. Stone: The most rewarding part for me is when I see a pet come in and they're sick, and then later I get to see them for their normal annual visit. It makes me so happy because I know they're doing well again.

Favorite Appointments

K: What is your favorite appointment or type of case to see?

KS: I really like the internal medicine cases, so diabetes or thyroid issues. Things that take a little bit of time to get to the bottom of and get on track. I find those really rewarding to work with.

What Every Pet Owner Should Know

K: What is one thing you wish every pet owner knew?

KS: Honestly, I think that some people just don't realize the value of an annual checkup with their vet, even if they're healthy, even if they're doing well. Bringing them in once a year to get them checked out is the best way to catch something before it becomes a problem, so we can keep your pets happy and healthy for as long as possible.

Your Pets

K: Tell us about your pets!

KS: I have four pets at home: three dogs and one cat. Two of the dogs, Rosa and Chica, I raised in college to be guide dogs for the blind, and they made their way back to me, thankfully. And then Apollo, my husband actually adopted from a shelter before we even started dating. And then our cat Athena was a COVID kitty, and we're very happy to have them all!

Enjoying Free Time

K: What is your favorite way to spend a day off?

KS: I love to read, I love to play video games with my husband and friends and family. I'm a big movie fan, especially more horror and thriller movies, but just depends on the day!
